Bio
Hi, I’m Shannon Belock.
I MAKE ART TO SAVE MONEY ON THERAPY.
I’m a multi-interdisciplinary Artist working with animation, collage, large scale painting, print making & fiber.
My work is inspired by health, humor & happiness. It is a visual representation of internal problems I’m trying to solve with personal verdicts & experiences I want to share. Or just something weird that made me laugh…
Visual commonalities you will see in my Art are soft shapes & colors with subtly deep contrasts & textures. Humor & fine lines. Lots of fine lines. I mostly find shapes to be more attractive with an outline. I’m also interested in the beauty of movement through the spectrum of meticulously planned animations all the way to free-hand painting murals larger than myself.
I was born in July 86’ and grew up in Tucson. In 2011, I followed a dumb boy to Chicago but stayed to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) where I earned my BFA. I lived there until the pandemic hit then decided to move back to the desert in August 2020 to reconnect with my roots and marry my True Love. Now we call Truth or Consequences, NM our “home.”
I’m currently creating original analog paper and fiber collage to support my less marketable work. The ones I find most successful are then re-imagined as large scale fiber tapestries.
I paint murals under the pseudonym “Holistic Hues”, which describes my pro feng-shui approach to color based problem solving.
My goal is to achieve financial freedom through my Art so that I can spend more time animating my truth and donating murals to hospitals that can’t afford to commission them. It’s places of illness that need that special atmospheric touch the most.
Our relationship to our surroundings is fundamental to our well-being.
DON’T BE A CHROMAPHOBE.
